The UMTEC001 is a modular tissue embedding and cooling system designed for paraffin embedding workflows in histology and pathology laboratories. How Tissue Embedding Works

Paraffin embedding is performed after tissue specimens have been fixed, processed and infiltrated with paraffin. The processed tissue is removed from the cassette and positioned inside an embedding mold containing molten paraffin.

During embedding, the heated workstation keeps the paraffin, molds, tissue cassettes and forceps at suitable working temperatures. The operator dispenses molten paraffin into the mold, positions the tissue in the required orientation and places the labeled cassette onto the mold before completing the paraffin fill.

The completed mold is then transferred to the cooling plate. Rapid cooling solidifies the paraffin around the specimen, producing a rigid paraffin block that can subsequently be sectioned using a microtome.
